He made an impact against Akron, finishing with one tackle and one fumble recovery which set up a Husker touchdown drive. 2024 (Redshirt Freshman) Noonan played in three games in 2024. He made his Nebraska debut against UTEP and had a five-yard tackle for loss for his first career tackle. 2023 (Redshirt) Noonan suffered a preseason injury that kept him out the entire 2023 season. Before Nebraska (Elkhorn North) Noonan was one of the state’s top defenders for Elkhorn South High School. Noonan was named to the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska first team as both a junior and senior, as well as earning spots on the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State first team both seasons. In his final season, Noonan led Elkhorn South in tackles and added nine sacks and 17 tackles for loss. He was an honorable-mention all-state pick as a sophomore. Noonan was a two-way player for Elkhorn South, also lining up on the offensive line. He helped the Storm to a state runner-up finish as a sophomore and quarterfinal appearances as a junior and senior. A three-star recruit, Noonan was ranked among the nation’s top 40 edge rushers by Rivals. He held offers from numerous Power Five programs including Arizona State, Iowa, Michigan State and Stanford. Personal Maverick is the son of Danny and Julie Noonan. Maverick is a nutrition and health sciences major. Maverick’s father, Danny, was a three-year letterwinner for the Huskers, and as a senior in 1986, Danny was a unanimous first-team All-American and the Big Eight Athlete of the Year. He recorded 140 tackles in his career with 36 TFLs and 25 sacks. A first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 1987 NFL Draft, the elder Noonan went on to play in 73 games in his six-year NFL career.
