2024 (Redshirt Sophomore) Fall Big Sky All-Academic Team. Played in all 12 games while starting 10 this season. Recorded 19 total tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Had a career-high four tackles and a quarterback hurry vs. Montana (9/28/24). Recorded two tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack at Northern Colorado (11/9/24). 2023 (Redshirt Freshman) Transferred from BYU and competed in spring practices at Eastern. Played in all 11 games, while starting in one. Made his first career tackle in the first game of the season against North Dakota State (9/2/23). Had two games where he made three tackles. Blocked a kick and made a tackle for loss at UC Davis (9/23/23). Recorded 19 tackles and had 4.5 Tackles for loss. Prior to Eastern Brigham Young University (2022) Redshirted. High School Two-time all-state defensive lineman at Othello High School under coach Roger Hoell. Three-time league defensive MVP. SBLive 2A Player of the Year. First three-time heavyweight wrestling champion in WIAA history. 3-star recruit out of high school, according to 247sports. Also competed in track. Personal: Born March 18, 2002. Parents are Erminio and Mandi Perez. Mother Mandi was an all-conference competitor at Eastern in track and field, including a program top 10 performance in the outdoor shot put (14.33 meters; 7th in Eastern history as of 2023). After high school, served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Has two uncles who played football at BYU. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
