He made his Husker debut against UTEP. Before Nebraska (Papillion La-Vista HS) A two-way standout at Papillion-LaVista High School, Ingwerson helped the Monarchs to an 8-2 record and a trip to the Class A state playoffs during his senior season. He recorded four touchdown catches in a run-first offense, helping Coach Tim Williams’ team average 227 yards per game on the ground. On defense, Ingwerson was disruptive at the line of scrimmage with 52 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and a fumble recovery. He earned first-team Super-State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star as a defensive lineman and was a second-team All-Nebraska pick by the Omaha World-Herald. Ingwerson also excelled on both sides of the ball as a junior, helping Papio to a state playoff berth. He caught three touchdown passes and averaged 17.5 yards per reception from his tight end spot. Defensively, he had 47 tackles, 9.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks to earn honorable-mention all-state recognition. Ingwerson was regarded as one of the top 10 players in Nebraska and was ranked among the nation’s top 40 tight ends by ESPN. Ingwerson's uncles, Tim and Mike Green, were both offensive linemen at Nebraska. Personal Eric is the son of Mike and Carrie Ingwerson. Eric is a criminology and criminal justice major.
