Caden Vermaas

Honors & Awards » Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2025) » Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2025) 2025 (Redshirt) Caden VerMaas played in two games in 2025 while redshirting. He played against Akron and Houston Christian. Before Nebraska (Millard North HS) VerMaas was a standout at Millard North High School. With the Mustangs, he excelled in the secondary, as an offensive weapon and as a kick returner. VerMaas finished his high school career with 93 tackles, five interceptions and four forced fumbles. He also totaled better than 3,600 all-purpose yards and 46 career touchdowns. VerMaas recorded 32 tackles on defense and produced 1,408 all-purpose yards during his senior season, including 857 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 16 passes for 420 yards and five touchdowns, averaging better than 26 yards per catch. His play helped the Mustangs to a 6-5 record and a trip to the Class A state quarterfinals. VerMaas was a first-team Lincoln Journal Star Super-State selection as a senior, and he also earned a spot on the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska second team. As a junior, VerMaas was a versatile two-way performer, making 19 tackles while rushing for 764 yards and 16 touchdowns and catching nine passes. He added 187 yards on kickoff returns and was an honorable-mention all-state selection. VerMaas made a strong impact for the Mustangs as a sophomore with 34 tackles, 665 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, while adding one receiving touchdown. VerMaas was ranked as the No. 3 player in Nebraska and among the nation’s top 25 safeties by ESPN. Personal Caden is the son of Scott and Renae VerMaas. Caden is a marketing major.
